Welcome to my first outfit post of 2018!
I have decided to start the new year off with a simple but classic monochromatic look.
I absolutely love the monochrome trend, there is just something so chic and timeless about it. There are a number of ways to achieve this sort of look, it's such a simple technique that gives your outfit a big impact without the use of a bold, statement piece. Everything you need to create a monochromatic look is probably already in your existing wardrobe.

BREAK IT UP WITH TEXTURE

When you create an outfit with only one colour you have to be careful that you don't end up wearing too many items that are similar in texture or tone as it could start to get a bit boring and no one wants that! You want to mix up your textures to give your outfit more depth and dynamic range, this compensates for the lack of colours in your look. Try mixing contrasting fabrics like PVC with wool or lace with denim, the more diverse the better!

CONTRASTING ACCESSORIES

Another way to add points of interest to your monochrome look is through the use of accessories. I personally like to use them as a way to break up an outfit with a bit of contrasting colour and texture. For this particular look I have used a pair of red tinted sunglasses as my main accessory. Red and grey are such complimentary colours and work so well together, the use of this bold primary colour really brings a pop to the overall look.

LAYER, LAYER, LAYER!

And finally, to achieve dimension in your monochrome outfit you are going to need to use a lot of layers. Layers allow you to play with different lengths and shapes, it can make your outfit a lot more fluid and interesting.

So why not give the monochrome trend a go?
Don't be put off by wearing an entire outfit of the same colour, embrace it! Make it bold with a different colour like red or blue or keep it simple with a classic black and white look, it's up to you, the possibilities are endless!
