It's a bit late, I know, but Happy New Year and hello 2019!

This is my first post of 2019 but before I head into the new year with lots of new content I wanted to look back at some of my highlights over the last 365 days and to set myself some goals for the upcoming year.

Like every year it's had its ups and downs but overall 2018 has been a pretty good to me. I've pushed myself with my blog, worked with some amazing brands and had some incredible experiences and opportunities over the last year.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2018

STEEL PANTHER / WAYWARD SONS @ NOTTINGHAM ROCK CITY

I kicked off the year shooting Wayward Sons at Rock City on the 'Lower the Bar Tour' with Steel Panther. It felt good doing some live band photography again, it's been a while! I shot this along side my bf who was filming Wayward Sons fourth music video. It was awesome to finally see Steel Panther live, they put on an awesome show! Nothing like a bit of glam metal to start of the year!

LEG TATTOOS

I'd been wanting to get my legs tattooed for ages! The problem was and still is that I'm so indecisive so I finally settled on an idea and found an artists work I absolutely loved. I am so happy with what Kev Richardson produced. I can't wait to fill my legs up now so I better get saving!

IMPERICON FESTIVAL WITH CABIN BOY JUMPED SHIP in AUSTRIA

This was such an incredible opportunity for Cabin Boy Jumped Ship (my bfs band) and I was lucky enough to be invited along to film them at the festival (check out the video here). They played along side some awesome bands such as Silverstein, Bury Tomorrow, Attila, We Came As Romans and many more. It was cool to meet the other bands and to finally see Silverstein live (my inner 16 year old emo self couldn't quite belive it! 😅)

DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL

Well what a weekend this was! I've wanted to go to Download for years but I never got round to going until this year. Not only was there an amazing line up of some of my favourite bands such as Marilyn Manson, Guns N Roses, Ozzy Osbourne and Jonathan Davies but I also had the opportunity to go on stage at the Doghouse Tent to film Cabin Boy Jumped Ship's biggest show to date! (check out the video here) This was such a surreal experience, probably even more so for the guys in the band, I'm so proud of them! It was definitely a weekend to remember! 🤘

COLLABORATIONS / FEATURES

At the start of the year I was determined to really push my blog and the content I created. I've been blogging on and off for a while now but never really fully committed to it until this year. I set myself some goals to post on my blog once a week and Instagram once a day, I think I did pretty well keeping on top of this considering I work full time as well.

Pushing my blog this year opened a lot of doors for collaborations. I've worked with some awesome brands such as CarterGore, Charly Moon, Nicce London, Naomi Shu, One Above Another, Desideratum Uk and Punky Pins. I even had a pair of shoes named after me, which was pretty cool (thanks Naomi Shu).

I also got featured by a couple of big brands, who I would absolutely love to work with in the future (fingers crossed). In June I was on the front page of the Dr Martens website, this was so awesome as it's one of my favourite brands. Then in August Primark shared my Clueless inspired look on their Instagram, this gave me a fair bit of exposure and a few laughs reading through the comments, apparently my knee looks like James Corden is trapped in there! 😂 Check it out for yourself here.

So that pretty much wraps up my 2018 highlights: tattoos, clothes and rock and roll!

2019 GOALS

I like to set a few achievable goals at the start of each year as it gives me more focus. I think it's a great way to start off a year even if they are small goals it will give you a sense of purpose and accomplishment. So without further ado here are my 2019 goals...

  • Wear more colour! We all know that I love an all black look. It's my fav but I feel like I've been neglecting other colours which can be quite limiting at times. So one of my 2019 goals is to introduce more colour into my wardrobe.

  • Learn to drive Okay this is a big one but it's getting to the point where I really need to learn to drive now. The train fairs are getting ridiculous and I really want more freedom to go where I want, when I want.
  • Continue to push my blog I put so much work into my blog last year and I really want to carry on with this. I have loads more ideas for this blog that I really want to get my teeth into this year, maybe even video or Youtube, so keep your eyes peeled!

  • Get fit I want to take up more exercise this year and generally be more healthy and strong.

  • Get 10k on Instagram I know it's not always about numbers but I want to set myself a goal to reach more people. Last year my aim was to get to 5K and I managed to do this, it definitely opens up more doors.

THE OUTFIT

I'm starting off the year and my very first outfit post with one of my new goals, wear more colour!
I was kindly sent this 'Issues' top by The Ragged Priest from Charly Moon, go check out their site they stock some awesome streetwear brands.

Initially my instincts were to style the top with my black pvc trousers, I had to stop myself! Luckily Pull & Bear do the same pair of pvc trousers in red. I wear my black ones so much that I thought I should invest in a red pair especially as they are the perfect fit (do you know how hard it is to find a pair of pvc pants that fit right?!) also they're in the sale atm for £9.99, Bargain!

I think I might actually, dare I say, love these red trousers more than my black ones. I love how bold and bright they are, they're definitely an eye-catcher! For the rest of the look I wanted to keep with the red accents throughout from the font on the top to the beret and even the makeup as it really pulls the whole look together. I completed the look with a heart choker, a cross body bag, my favourite pair of heels and a duster coat because unfortunately it is still freezing in the uk! (bring on the warmer weather!)

I love this outfit so much, its so bold and really stands out. Minus the shoes (I'd probably swap them with my Docs) it's something I would wear all the time as it's casual and comfortable but still has that edge.

Have you set yourself any goals this year? If so let me know in the comments below!
