You might be able to tell from my previous post that I'm just a little bit eager to get into autumn. It's the best season in my opinion. But as we move into a new season there is always this weird transition period, which can be pretty unpredictable. It's frustrating not knowing what to wear, so this week I'm showing you how I gradually move into the season with my current wardrobe.

DENIM

You can't go wrong with a good pair of jeans. They're versatile and can be worn all year round no matter what the season. They are an easy, go to essential and a great option when your unsure on what to wear. The jeans I'm wearing here are skinnies so they're quite a light weight denim which is great for this time of year.

A LIGHT JACKET

A jacket is definitely an essential as we move into autumn. I'd normally wear my favourite denim or leather one but for this outfit I went for an oversized, unbuttoned shirt instead as it wasn't that cold. Shirts are a great alternative to a jacket, I would advise buying one that's either several sizes too big or an oversized fit as you are wearing it over the top of other items and you don't want it to be too tight! I found this particular one in a charity shop for £3.99 which is an absolute bargain!

HATS

I'm such a hat person, I love them! They can really finish off a outfit and are a great way to keep warm. There are so many more choices as we move into the colder months from beanies to berets, there's a hat for every look! I'm currently obsessed with this wide brimmed hat I found on Depop for a tenner. I've been wanting one of these for ages, I'm definitely gonna be wearing this all season!

LAYER UP

Yes, I say it ever year, but what is autumn without layers!?
Layers are a great way to tackle unpredictable weather, they keep you nice and cosy but can easily be taken off if the sun decides to show its face. As you can see in this look I've started to add layers to my outfit, I'll be adding more and more towards the end of the month as it gets colder.

BOOTS

Put away those sandals and jelly shoes and bring out those trusty pair of boots. I mean I wear mine all year round but I just love boots, especially my Dr Marten's. I think a decent pair of boots is a great investment and will last you for several years if not longer. So if your missing a pair of boots from your wardrobe then I suggest you go and find a pair as they keep your feet toasty and dry during autumn and winter, because soggy socks are the worst!

So these are just a few ways I can transition my existing wardrobe into autumn. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the new autumn / winter wear this year but for the mean time I think it's a great idea to rummage through your wardrobe, see what you actually have and make it work for the season ahead.

I really enjoyed creating this post, I hope you found it interesting and helpful!

Are you just as excited as me for autumn? If not what's your favourite season?
