Statement jeans are definitely having a moment, and I don't want it to go away!
Once considered a basic staple of your wardrobe the modest jean has had a revamp. From raw hems and distressing to embroidery and embellishment, the options are endless!
So when I was sent these statement flame jeans by One Above Another I was over the moon! One above Another are a streetwear brand, based in Birmingham, that sell unique, badass and over the top garments. If you haven't heard of them I strongly suggest you check them out. Their collections are full of vinyl fabrics, sequins, oversized shapes and distressed denims, basically they're right up my street. So if your like me and love your statement, eye catching pieces it's definitely the brand for you.
I was really impressed with the quality of the denim, they are certainly going to last. As for the fit they're a relaxed boyfriend jean which is a nice change from skinnys, they are also dead comfy to wear. What I love the most about these jeans though is all the details that have been put into them, from the obvious flame sequin patches and knee tears to the more subtle rips and brand patch on the back. This attention to detail really makes the garment standout.
So for this look I decided to style the jeans with a black cropped jumper that has these cool tassel details along the sleeve. I found this top a few years back in a vintage store in Leeds and thought it looked really unique, so Ozzy Osbourne! Despite the tops statement sleeves it works really well with the jeans, it's subtle enough to not overpower the overall look. As for the accessories I wanted to bring in as many yellow and gold tones as possible in order to mimic the sequin flames. By doing this it really balances out the colours in the outfit, tying the whole look together.
What do you think of the statement jean trend, is it something you would wear?
